Meeting Minutes

October 2nd | 2023

 

  • Call to order at 7:05 pm (motion – Erin, 2nd Kathy)

  • Review and Accept prior meeting minutes (motion- Kathy, 2nd Madine)

  • Officers- Voted to retain all officers in current roles for the next year (unanimous vote)

  • Old Business

    • T-Shirts

      • Kathy went by Winning Image. Their are running behind on projects due to their primary project manager being in a severe accident. They are working on hiring a replacement/back up processes.

      • The Logo file should be finalized for our review approval soon and Kathy will socialize with our group for approval

      • T-shirts will be dark green with monument image on the front and pocket wording for Goshen Historical Society. The back will list sponsor names.

      • Discussed tri-fold sponsor request letter. Kathy will finalize verbiage based on the review. We will update language so we can present to businesses/folks outside of Goshen for opportunity to sponsor.

      • Working Session to fold/address tri-folds- 10/24 @3:00 pm (Town Hall)

        • We will also finalize food/drink details for the Information Open House

      • Erin will update the website with information related to the sponsor drive for the t-shirts based on the updated tri-fold details from Kathy. (We can also do a FB post)

      • Marci will work on a Front Porch notice for the sponsorship opportunity as well

      • Goal is to have shirts ready for the Information Open House for sale if possible.

         

    • Historical Signage

      • Kathy is working to finalize the grant request

      • Reviewed form during the meeting to provide some additional details, however, Kathy will need some financial report information along with our final verbiage for the submission. Madine has details around the history of the building, when built and what the original purpose was for the sign.

      • Kathy and Madine discovered there is still funds in the town Educational Fund that may be available for us to use.

    • Calendar

      • Madine is working on the pictures and had additional photos for us to review at the meeting.

      • Walgreens designer will organize for best layout.

      • Should have them ready for the Information Open House for Sale

    • Brandon Reporter Interview

      • Kathy still needs to reach out to Steven Jupiter, but has Madine's number and will reach out to him this week.

    • Membership

      • Annual Dues are due at this time. Please send to Barb Brown.

      • Reminder notice sent to non-board/non-core members

      • Erin will update the website with the Board member names and roles for general awareness

      • Still need updated By-laws to update to the website with changes made earlier this year (Madine- can you please send to me ASAP?)

 

  • Next event

    • Had to move the Information Session as the town is planning an event for 11/4

    • Our Information Open House will be Saturday, November 11 at 2:00 pm

      • General information about the society

      • Calendars and T-shirts for sale (if ready)

      • Light beverages/snacks (ie: cider, donuts, etc.)

      • Need to follow-up with VT Historical Society. Eileen indicated she might have items we could share as part of our event.

      • Madine will bring display items from our past events and some new items for folks to look at. If anyone else has anything they wish to display, that is welcome.

      • We will do a FaceBook post and website article to announce (maybe also something on FrontPorch Forum?)

 

  • Madine also shared that there will be a Community Holiday Pot Luck Dinner on December 9th at 5:30pm. This is unrelated to GVTHS, but a good way for all of us in Goshen to get together during the holiday season.
